I admit it, I’m nosy. I’m not usually directly nosy– (even the thought of saying something like “So how much did you pay for this?” makes me want to break out in hives) I guess you would say that I’m more a closet nosy (doesn’t that sound like some device to clean your house? Just me? Okay then…moving on).

My favorite is to watch people. I really enjoy sitting and watching people out in public, especially when their face is saying one thing and their body language says something completely different (Um dude? Yeah, she may be holding your hand, but she’s really not that into it or you for that matter. Trust me on this one.)

I also enjoy (okay this didn’t seem that strange to me before I committed this to writing. Maybe this makes me even stranger) seeing what people ahead of me in the line are buying at the grocery store. It isn’t like I pass judgement or anything like that, more like a puzzle. Like I’ll try to figure out what they’re going to make with the ingredients that they’re buying.

I had to wonder a little bit about the man in front of me today though. While standing in line for a really really long time, (and by the way, did you know there are only 52 more shopping days before Christmas? Thanks Wal-Mart for totally killing any chance of a good day with your depressing little countdown meter standing right next to me while I wait in line) I had the opportunity to see what the gentleman ahead of me was purchasing today. In his cart he had:
    * Three 2 liter bottles of Diet Dr. Pepper
    * Two 6-packs of 24oz bottles of Diet Dr. Pepper
    * 1 1/2 cases of French Cut Green beans with no added salt
    * 6 mini (snack size?) bags of chips
    * 2 microwaveable Dinty Moore meals

I’m just totally flummoxed–I think I can safely assume he likes Diet Dr. Pepper. But why the two different sizes? And what is he going to do with the green beans? Maybe they just really like green bean casserole for Thanksgiving at his house and he’s stocking up early? Why is it okay for the chips and the Dinty Moore meals to have (way too much) salt, but not the green beans?

    I think I need a new hobby.

I suspect you might enjoy this one — for proof you’re not alone in your hobby/obsession, if nothing else.

I am so mad at you about the Christmas countdown. Just because it ruined your day doesn’t mean you needed to ruin all of ours…

I was ignoring the Christmas music in the store.
