When the Dr. asks if you’d like an internal exam to see how/if you’ve progressed because you aren’t necessarily due for your first one until next week’s appointment, do not reply, ‘Sure, why not?!!’ as if that was the one thing on the top of your To-Do list for the day because it will not be the highlight of your day. Guaranteed.
Not that the exam told us anything new and exciting (and hopeful!!!). I am officially full-term as of yesterday (37 weeks!!!!) and am 0 cm dialated and only about 50% effaced. But at least 50% is 50% more than it was before. One bright spot of the entire appointment was that we found out that the little guy’s head is good and low–at a -1 station even. Only one more station to go to get to -2!!
We went to the family 4th of July Picnic yesterday and it was actually much better than I had anticipated. Even after an hour + drive to get there. Mostly, I think, due to the fact that I got to hold our beautiful little nephew who is officially 2 weeks old today. The best part was getting to see my husband (the man who is excited to be a daddy like nothing else but won’t let anyone see it) get all tender-eyed when looking at a sleeping 2 week old. I’m so excited to get to meet our little man (and to have his little feet out of my ribs as well) but I’m even more excited to get to watch my husband get to be a daddy. I have a feeling I’d better keep the tissues handy.
