I have started the week off with a bang. No, really I have–I managed to break the glass jar part (where all the liquid goes) of the blender this morning while rushing around the kitchen. Apparently if you swing out a cabinet door into said blender jar (while not mentally registering that said cabinet door is in close proximity to said blender jar), the resulting force will cause the blender jar to flip end over end until it comes to a crashing halt on the floor across the room. Owen wasn’t sure whether to come investigate (me using the loud voice: NO! STAY BACK! OUT OF THE KITCHEN!!!) or be upset over the whole thing.
After doing a little search online to find out if I could order a replacement jar (from the company website not so much, but you can find all replacement parts on Amazon), I find myself facing a decision. I can either replace just the part that broke, or for roughly twice what it would cost to replace the broken part, I can buy an entirely new blender in red which would then match my stand mixer as well. The blender and mixer aren’t in the same area on the counter (in fact the blender is rarely used–I usually prefer to do anything blendy/choppy in the food processor anyway), so you wouldn’t notice the nice matchy-ness anyway.
So my question is this: would you either replace just the glass jar part or spend the additional amount and go for the pretty new red blender? To further complicate/ease up the decision making process, I also have about $7.00 balance remaining from an Amazon gift certificate, so it would make either item a little less.

I don’t know. I love the idea of red and matching, but I think if it’s more than $20 cheaper, you should just buy the replacement.

Oh, I would totally buy the new one. Here’s how I would justify it: I would say to myself that if I replaced the broken part, the OTHER part would die soon. So I might as well buy a whole new one and start fresh.
If I needed a little more help, I would ask for it for Christmas.

I bought the new blender when that happened to me. It wasn’t that much more and I LOVE the new one.
