I think I’m a little deficient in my brominated vegetable oil intake

    December 15, 2006

Yahoo, finals are over. It got a little stressful at the end of the week, but I am proud to say that there were no freakouts (usually when under a massive amount of stress, there is bound to be at least one tantrum ‘episode’ complete with tears, excess sniffling and several dives into the deep end of the pity pool) and I finished up everything on time and even early in a few cases.

The really exciting news of the week though, is the car crash that took place in front of my house, almost in my front yard. It went a little something like this:

Place (my living room with me on the phone with my best friend. Owen, bundled up into his seat ready to go as I am about to leave on some errands after I finish up on the phone)

Me: Yeah, so blah blah blah…hey I need to get off the phone. Somebody just crashed into my car.

    My friend: Um okay…

I ran out of the house in front of my house to find an older Volvo station wagon’s front bumper resting neatly smack against the rear bumper of my car. There was a woman at the wheel, but she had apparantly passed out several hundred feet back. The woman’s teenaged daughter was in the passenger seat and had panicked when her mom blacked out and not knowing what to do, tried to pull the car over to the edge of the road, albeit into the back end of my vehicle. I ended up having to call 911 to get help for the driver. The Emergency Services came and checked the driver and her vehicle out and both were deemed as not needing emergency services.

I’m still not quite sure exactly what happened. No one ever told me directly exactly what happened, even though I heard whispers (and smelled massive amounts) of alcohol being involved. I didn’t want to make a bad situation worse by being exceedingly nosy, so I just didn’t ask too many questions that I really didn’t need to know the answers to. The only damage to my car? Her car crashing into my rear end only cracked my lower rear bumper. I’m just really really thankful that no one got hurt (she narrowly missed the power pole right on the edge of our property) and that I had been delayed getting out to my car by my phone call.

Talk about an exciting week–although really, I think I don’t need to much more of this kind of exciting.

In administrative notes: I am doing some playing around with my template/overall design now that I have time. It isn’t quite exactly what I want just yet, so expect more changes.

Also–can I ask a favor? Please please please?!!! If you leave comments and you aren’t a Blogger blogger (i.e. you blog elsewhere), can you please leave your site address in your comment? Since Blogger has done the Beta upgrade, some of the outside web addresses for commenters don’t/won’t show up and I can’t go and visit the lovely people who leave me comments. Thanks so much!!!

    Cue the sad violins

    December 6, 2006

Oh Internet–what a week it has been and we’re only halfway through. My mantra for the week (alot like the little engine that could) is “If I can only make it until Saturday”–a little wordy sure, but it flows after a few times.

I am halfway through Finals, with only a few tests to take and a few more assignments to finish up. I may have to buy myself something pretty just for not starting to work on my wrists with the dull butter knives. Seriously though, I’ve actually been better this semester about not procrastinating as much as I usually do by this point in the semester–probably has alot to do with the 25 inch tyrant, or as we casually like to refer to him, Owen.

In other exciting news around the house though, we appear to be suffering from another fun stomach bug (seriously, small intestine–WHAT’S THE DEAL?) I’m hoping to finally get rid of this thing, the sooner the better. Otherwise I may end up being that 10 pounds thinner for the family Christmas Eve dinner that I was hoping for. Except that it wouldn’t be on purpose, more from not daring to eat anything for fear that I might be seeing it again way too soon. Ugh.

I have to say though, that the stomach thing does have one positive. When I was in labor, for me it felt like the worst case of stomach flu I have ever had in my entire life. Lately, since Owen is getting bigger and I’m having a harder time finding my little baby in his face, I’ve been getting a little wistful and envious of all the cute pregnant women I’ve been seeing when I’m out and about. The stomach thing? Serves to remind me that it is still WAY too soon to be thinking about adding any siblings for Owen just yet. That and the fact that someone (rhymes with ‘Bowin’) has been SO grumpy lately–nope kid, it’s looking good for you to be sibling-less for quite a while yet.

I’m off as the ruler of the house is calling for his pacifier to be replaced in his mouth. Either that or to try to poke my eyes out now that he’s figured out that his hands work.

    It’s been real, NoBloPoMo

    December 1, 2006

Wow, here it is the last day of November already. Kind of feels like the last day of school–you’re really glad it’s here (signing charming things like, “Ha ha, I signed your crack”, “It’s been real, it’s been fun, but it hasn’t been real fun” and the ever popular, “Don’t ever change” in each other’s yearbooks)but at the same time there is a pang, something wistful at the end of it all.

I will slightly miss the posting everyday (and getting to read some of my old and newly discovered faves who posted everyday right alongside me as well) however, in my delusion (six hours total of nightly sleep that gets interrupted every two hours by a 25 inch tyrant will do that to you) I have managed to forget that next week is finals week for school. Internet, I sat down and made a list tonight and let’s just say that I have a lot to get accomplished before Friday December 9, 2006. Eh, I do work better under pressure. It will be nice to use time that would have been spent here trying to pound out a semi-decent post on some assignment/quiz/paper that sorely needs it.

Until next year NoBloPoMo–totally don’t change who you are and like, call me or something.
