So I think this is it. No water breaking…but let’s just say that the contractions that I am having now are making the one’s earlier look like peanuts. They really aren’t kidding when they say you won’t be able to talk through them.
We’re heading in to the hospital shortly. I’ll update when I can. Keep your fingers crossed for us!!!!

Under pressure…
Another Tuesday, another Dr’s appointment. I started having contractions again this morning (nothing regular though) so I was semi-hopeful that we were getting somewhere. Alas, I’m still stuck at 80% effaced and now I’m 1 to 2 cm dialated…but the Dr. did do the magical cervical ’swipe’ in hopes of starting something that will push me right up and over the top into full labor.
I don’t know if Dr’s magic fingers have done anything, but I did have some pretty terrific (terrific in the sense of oh I don’t know…a 10 foot wave about to crash over your head and you can’t move from where you’re currently stuck standing) contractions the entire time darling husband and I were in Target after the appointment. It wasn’t so much that they hurt…I just would get really uncomfortable and suddenly be physically unable to move during the contraction. Amazingly enough, things must have been on my side today, because my darling husband who normally is about as open to subtlety as your average Neanderthal, totally got that “Hey, let’s go look at THAT aisle” meant “I do believe my uterus has balled up into something that feels very similar to hardened concrete again and is threatening to leave my body via my belly button if I don’t stop moving this very second and I just need to stop and breath for about 30 seconds RIGHT.NOW” without me either having to a)explain it all in detail or b)alarm anyone standing within 2 feet of us by using the word ‘contraction’ in an actual sentence. Apparently the ‘C’ word used in connection with someone appearing as pregnant as I am tends to make bystanders a little nervous. People stare enough just at the belly–I don’t need any more unecessary attention. Besides, it isn’t like I’m just going to suddenly blow open in the store.
Maternity leave is great–I’ve already managed to go through 4 books since Friday. I had forgotten how fun it is to just have limitless amounts of time to just leisurely read as I want. Other than that, I’m actually a little bored. I can only catch up on reading so many blogs in a day and really…what to do with the remaining 15 hours in the day (I know, I know…such is the life).
If you need a good deed to perform for the day, why don’t you stop on by and offer Crazy Bloggin’ Canuck some encouragement/good vibes…her due date was the 15th and she was supposed to be induced today (they actually sent the woman home yesterday after refusing to induce…I don’t think I would have been as calm)

And…
here I sit. Still at home. Still no baby. Contractions, you fickle things *sticks tongue out* shame on you for making me get my hopes up. *Sigh* this is all so confusing.
I did not have a great night (sleep? apparently I am now on the newborn sleeping pattern…every 45 minutes) so I am just going to lay in bed and will my cervix to open. Should be lots of fun and excitement for the day.
Should (and I say that not at all hopefully) anything *happen*, necessitating a trip to the local maternity ward, I’ll post before we go. But I wouldn’t be holding your breath on it. ‘Cause it might be a while and I don’t want to be responsible for the passing out and potentially hitting your head on something sharp, you know, because you were still holding your breath and all.
